Impact of Medical Marijuana to Ohio-Based Businesses

Jon us as we dig into what adjustments as HR practicioners we need to make as legalized medical marijuana puts the HIGH in O-HI-O!

In September 2016 Ohio became one of 33 states that have legalized the medical use of marijuana.

    • What does it mean to legally use marijuana in Ohio?
    • What distinguishes medical marijuana from recreational marijuana?
    • Why has the medical (or recreational) use of marijuana been so controversial in the U.S.?  And how should Ohio employers embrace the change?

In many respects, Ohio employers can breathe easy that medical marijuana does not necessarily mean a change in HR policies.  In other respects, the legalization of medical marijuana may be the beginning of many changes related to our national perspective on both medicine and accommodation of individuals seeking alternative treatment strategies.  These issues will be covered along with recommendations for addressing actual and potential changes in workplace management of marijuana.
