President Trump, Pot, and Potential for Paid Leave: Observations and Predictions
President Trump’s first 100 days in office has passed. What has the administration done vis-à-vis employers and what can employers expect for the remainder of the year and term?
This legislative conference will focus 1) on federal issues of importance to employers: health care, labor relations, wage and hour, immigration, and the possibility of federally mandated paid leave. The conference will also address issues at the state level, including proposed amendments to the Ohio Civil Rights Act and the advent of medical marijuana. A brief period of time will be spent addressing a significant change in Akron law, specifically, the creation of the Akron Civil Rights Commission and the addition of LGBTQ status to the list of protected classifications.
Tony Fiore, Ohio SHRM’s Legislative Director and a series of lawyers from Roetzel & Andress will be giving us the latest scoop on all the changes pending in our HR Legal Environment.
9:00 – 10:00 News from the Department of Labor (Including a Sighting of that Rare Creature, Paid Leave)
10:00 – 10:45 The National Labor Relations Board – Turning Back the Tide
