    The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Director at GOJO is responsible for designing, launching, scaling, and sustaining the GOJO DEI strategy and associated programmatic support that enables behavior change and skill development of GOJO team members, including addressing systemic inhibitors and other root causes of monoculturalism, inequity, and exclusion. Together, these efforts will result in creating a more inclusive and equitable GOJO where every GOJO team member is provided equal access and opportunity for inclusion, advancement and success. In addition, this role includes responsibility for GOJO engagement in the broader community on DEI topics. The DEI leader must think globally by designing an approach that can be applied for our teams in the U.S. and around the world. This is a highly collaborative role that engages with leaders and team members across the organization. Relatedly, the leader will have a platform to have a significant and positive impact on our business and our people.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    •    Proactively lead and facilitate generative DEI discussions with the GOJO leadership team to advance the organizational understanding of what DEI means to GOJO and advance its progress through leadership
    •    Lead GOJO efforts to define and develop the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy and supporting programmatic efforts to make meaningful progress 
    •    Determine and implement evaluation methods and metrics to assure progress and to inform changes in strategy
    •    Lead the design and faciliation of the DEI advisory team(s) as long as this structure is relevant and determine long-term approach to gaining insights and support across the enterprise 
    •    Incorporate DEI in the identification and recruiting of top, diverse talent in partnership with HROD 
    •    Play an ad hoc role as advisor, facilitator, and champion for DEI when issues, incidients or opportunities emerge in day-to-day operations or strategic planning. 
    •    Represent GOJO in the community with external stakeholders in alignment with our strategic priorities, philanthropy, and community engagement efforts 
    •    Lead the development of Employee Resource Groups for DEI across the enterprise 
    •    In partnership with Global Sourcing, define and develop the company’s supplier diversity program. 
    •    Lead the strategic approach for activating the Women Business Enterprise certification as a strategic advantage for the company 
    •    Engage, coach, and support team members across the organization on DEI to advance understanding

    Education and Experience

    •    Bachlors degree in Psychology, Sociology, Diversity & Inclusion, Organizational Development, Organizational Behavior, Human Resources, or related field; Advanced degree preferred
    •    A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience leading diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts across multiple forms of diversity
    •    Experience in manufacturing environments preferred
    •    Marketing, communications, brand management experience a plus; at a minimum, experience working in a brand-centric company
    •    Skills, abilities, and competencies to implement multiple types of facilitated learning methods and measure efficacy
    •    Demonstrates organizational acumen and the ability to work with and influence others toward a common goal 
    •    Deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all its forms
    •    Drive and patience: Recognition that it is possible to make early progress and necessary to sustain the effort over the long haul
    •    Exceptional listening and communications skills 
    •    Interpersonal savvy; political savvy; organizational savvy
    •    Experience in supplier diversity programming & women business enterprise certification a plus
    •    Experience leading cross function teams, both formal and informal; can marshal internal resources
    •    Experience in sourcing, vetting, and managing external resources for positive impact and productivity in alignment with GOJO culture and strategy
    •    Can manage work effectively and demonstrates strong project management capabilities 
    •    Is a critical thinker, and is comfortable working through gray areas 
    •    Courageously embraces change 


    The DEI Director will be a leader on the Sustainable Value team which includes sustainability, community and government relations, and corporate communications reporting to the Sustainable Value VP. The Sustainable Value team is part of the broader Human Resources Organizational Development (HROD) team at GOJO. This role will be working closely with the leaders of the Family Enterprise in the development of this critical function. 

    The role will be responsible for leading all of GOJO DEI efforts including strategy, coordinating team member communications, and training on DEI and employee engagement. Additionally the individual in this role leads the DEI work for GOJO externally in the community, with our supply chain and customers. 

    Travel Requirements

    Travel between campus locations in Northeast Ohio as needed

    Overnight Travel - sporadic - required.
