Compensation Analyst

    Cuyahoga Community College

    Evaluates and administers both the bargaining and non-bargaining Compensation functions for the College, including participating in the design of pay plans, salary analyses, and job evaluations.  Analyzes and evaluates all related Compensation policies, projects, and processes to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    •       Administers all bargaining and non-bargaining compensation programs including the processing, recording, and reporting of compensation actions for employees
    •       Assists managers with preparing, editing and revising all job descriptions College-wide
    •       Conducts job evaluations and recommends appropriate salary grade placement; Conducts exemption testing and determines exemption status for jobs
    •       Prepares compensation analyses for salary offers, promotions, equity increases and job expansion increases
    •       Manages the SEIU annual job audit and faculty salary advancement process which includes job analysis, interaction with union representatives, preparation of communications and pay adjustments, if applicable
    •       Monitors internal equity compensation to maintain integrity and consistency
    •       Provides guidance and counsel to College management on pay decisions, compensation practices, policies, and procedures
    •       Develops communication materials for compensation programs and services; updates compensation documentation in relation to fiscal/calendar year changes
    •       Manages the position control function for the College by developing and maintaining knowledge of best practices in navigating the College’s ERP system of record, Banner
    •       Manages the interim assignment process including reporting, monitoring end dates, and proactive departmental outreach
    •       Manages the College’s full time non-bargaining tuition reimbursement fund and administers the process to eligible employees College-wide
    •       Manages several full time bargaining education/professional development funds and administers associated processes in collaboration with applicable bargaining unit committees
    •       Oversees the administration of the College’s remission of fees process
    •       Interfaces with ITS, HRIS, and other select areas to automate related processes, test system changes, and implement new technology
    •       Supports the Executive Director, Total Rewards with special projects and strategy of the compensation function of the College
    •       Serves as Compensation’s lead and primary liaison for cross functional projects
    •       Completes compensation surveys and maintains market data tools and subscriptions
    •         
    •       Maintains awareness of federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations to ensure compliance
    •       Recommends, develops, reviews, and implements new policies, programs, processes, and procedures, as necessary
    •       Serves as backup  for processing daily employee hiring proposals (ePAF’s)
    •       Annually prepares and maintains notes, annual wage table changes, and compensation board resolutions
    •       Continuously updates related process and procedural guides
    •       Proactively monitors minimum wage changes and administers and communicates updates as appropriate
    •       Performs other duties as assigned

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

    •       Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Finance, or related field
    o       Significant related experience may substitute for education
    •       Minimum of five years of demonstrated experience specializing in compensation administration, including analysis, compliance, and project management
    •       Demonstrated experience in Human Resources
    •       Demonstrated systems implementation and process improvement experience
    •       Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that have major implications on the management and operations within a department   
    •       Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situations


    PERFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

    •       Master’s Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration
    •       Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
    •       Demonstrated experience working with collective bargaining agreements as it correlates with compensation
    •       Demonstrated experience working in a higher education setting

    •       The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment; 
    •       The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated;
    •       Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type.  However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
    •       Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite
